TGDaily.com has posted a report about a demonstration given at Nvidia’s headquarters in Santa Clara. The presentation highlighted new features in Photoshop, supposedly to be released in version CS4. TGDaily notes that new GPU acceleration makes the program a whole lot faster, and also mentions other interesting tidbits like a rotate canvas tool and 3D model integration.

Autodesk, the company behind the digital sketching program Sketchbook Pro, recently posted an interview and tutorial from digital painting master Bobby Chiu. There is also a time-lapse video of the painting on the Imaginism Studios blog. Chiu narrates the video and talks about some of his experiences as an artist. He also does a good job in explaining the differences between some of the major design and painting programs.

The free, online image editing service from Adobe, Photoshop Express, recently announced integration with Flickr. Users now have the ability to pull photos from their Flickr accounts, edit them in Photoshop Express, and upload them back. Adobe also introduced an embeddable player that will let users put slideshows on other websites.

I previously mentioned a piece of software called LiveQuartz, which is an image editor with support for multi-touch gestures on Apple laptop trackpads. While this functionality isn’t available in Photoshop yet, CreativeBits recently noted a few trackpad tricks that DO already exist.

The latest version of an image editor called LiveQuartz includes support for multi-touch gestures. Currently, that means you have to own a new MacBook or MacBook Pro to try out this feature. “Pinching” will zoom the picture, and “swiping” switches your tools. I’m excited to see where this technology will go in the future of all image editors.

LiveQuartz is available as a free download from RhapSoft.
